Introducing Terisa Griffin

Terisa Griffin is two decades into a career that has included time as a background singer, an indie soul leader and even as a successful contestant on NBC’s ‘The Voice’, Griffin is a vocal powerhouse who has been hidden in plain sight for many adult soul fans.

Successfully capturing both the musical vibe and the glamor of the Golden Age of female soul singers, the Chicago-based chanteuse is a reminder of why certain sounds and artists stay with us and even grow in stature with time – an anachronism in the current era of too many throwaway songs.

It has been nearly a decade since we’ve heard a new album from Griffin, but that drought ended with her new album release, ‘More Than A Woman.’ The album finds Griffin embracing a nighttime soulful groove, creating a sexy, romantic album that is a near perfect fit into her oeuvre as a singer, songwriter and producer.

Terisa is the Daughter of a Minister who grew up in the church singing gospel with her three sisters every Sunday morning.  As most black artists, this was her entry Into the world of music. The daughters were their father’s personal choir and they loved every minute of it. This was their introduction to harmony.

Griffin has been the opening act for some of the most notable names in the music industry —Jerry “Ice Man” Butler, Diana Ross, Will Downing, The O’Jays, George Benson, Patti LaBelle, Charlie Wilson, & Sheryl Lee Ralph & Gregory Porter among others.

Internationally known for her electrifying voice and hit song “Wonderful” which she wrote and Co- produced with Grammy Nominated, Terry Hunter. Terisa has also produced and starred in her series of “OneVoice, One Woman” concert events.

Griffin has produced four applauded independent CDs and dance singles, which includes her soulful remake of Marvin Gaye’s “Distant Lover’ which reached #34 on the BillBoard Charts. As an Indie Artist it is a testament to her soul music. Griffin’s “Revival of Soul” Distant Lover Single listed #33 on Urban Radio Media Base.

Griffin took to the road in August of 2024 teasing and pleasing the audience with her Promoting her up and coming New Project “More Than A Woman”, on a 8 City sold out tour of City Winery Venues and various other clubs to get a live reaction of her new project before her June 2024 Debut. Terisa Filled the air with tones of love and rhythmic heavenly unapologetic soul for the grown and dedicated music lovers.

Griffin entered the indie Soul Charts at #28 and rose to #12 with her song “Underneath It All”. As an actor, this multi-talented performer made her acting debut in Director Hill Harper’s movie

‘The Truth” as well as writing the title Song • ‘Can’t Stop Loving You’.

Terisa has a heart for philanthropic work and while her music is a part of her soul, she was inspired to reach deeper into the lives of young people.  In 2007 Griffin created a not for profit 501c3 organization BETTER LOVE YOURSELF, Inc. The organization assists young adults to master the art of loving themselves. BLY has distributed over 6000 Collegiate Trunks to date with Essentials for college students in over 10 cities around the country. The Event is a ‘Trunk Party’ and workshops of Pearls of knowledge Monikered a “Pep Rally for Education.”
